If you read my last post, the one before that, or follow me on Instagram, you would most definitely know what my current obsession is. Yup! It’s the kbeauty-staple and ever reliable pick-me-upper, sheet mask!
I know, I know. This isn’t supposed to be a beauty blog and yes, I’m no beauty blogger, but hey! It just goes to show versatile I am, yeah?
Hey guys! I know it’s been quiet here for the past few weeks. I haven’t posted anything for about a month! Sorry about that. It’s just that I’ve been too engrossed with certain ‘ ~ things ~ ‘ (mostly kbeauty things) that I can’t really find time to blog.
So what might I have been up to recently, you ask?
Well, here’s a rundown of the things keeping me preoccupied at the moment.
My “excuses” for not being able to blog
My number 1 priority is of course, my #bebebella. We started feeding her solids on her fourth month but we’ve been doing it more religiously now. So far, she has had mashed Fuji apples, carrots, potatoes, and squash., and I think she’s really enjoying them.
Our morning routine involves nursing and sleep until about 8 AM, then she either goes back to sleep or plays with me. At about 9-10 AM, I feed her her dose of solids for the day, after which she has her bath. Most afternoons she just nurses and naps but she will only nap in my arms or on my chest. The moment you put her down? BAM! She’s awake. I normally don’t want to risk it so I just spend time on my computer while she sleeps. I now understand why my whole body was so sore after our day out yesterday. I’m no longer used to all those hours of commute. My legs, my arms, my shoulders, my back, my butt… everything hurts. And to think I mostly traveled via Uber! I might sound like an old lady but I don’t think I can ever do it again!
TIP: Use my code xengm4ue when booking your first uber ride and get Php 40 off on your first trip!
As I mentioned above, a majority of my day is spent in front of the computer so that Bella can sleep. This extra time online has led me to explore the various online stores, as well as ways to shop smarter online. In the past months, I’ve been buying a lot from Zalora, Althea, and BeautyMNL. I also got a bunch of stuff from the Forever 21 Global Store when they had this crazy sale that I just couldn’t resist.
When we were in Korea in December of 2016, I noticed how almost everyone we met had smooth, almost porcelain skin, and it really made me feel envious. Maybe it was the cold climate but I bet it had to do more with the now popular 10-step Korean skin care routine.Because I was so intensely curious with how effective this skin care routine was, I just had to try it out for myself. Obviously, I had to grab the chance to get legit Korean skin care items while we were there and so off to Myeongdong we went.
All around Myeongdong, you’ll see various beauty and skin care stores and seriously, there’s so much to choose from and I was so clueless about what to get at that point so I just really got some stuff that I thought were really cool. This means not everything on the list I’m posting below is a Korean brand.
I would like to take this time to say that I’m no skin expert, nor am I someone with amazingly clear and porcelain skin. I’m just someone who has tried doing the multi-step Korean skin care routine and would like to share my thoughts on the experience, nothing more.
Hey guys! For those who don’t know, my husband is from Zamboanga and that’s where we spent our Christmas and New Year. It was also my first time away from home during these occasions, and also my baby Bella’s first flight so it was really an exciting time for us as a family. Of course on our way back, we brought Zamboanga barter goods as pasalubong for my family in Antipolo.
Zamboanga Barter Trading
You can’t say you’ve been to Zamboanga if you haven’t experienced buying Zamboanga barter goods from the various trading centers all throughout the city. Zamboanga barter goods can also be found for sale at malls which can be a convenient alternative for some who don’t like the hassle of small places without air-conditioning. Ever since I became a mom, my shopping habits changed. When I was still working, I would normally get my stuff at the mall. Nowadays though, I prefer to shop online for various reasons which I will talk about below. Specifically, I will talk about why I love to shop on Zalora, my current favorite online store.
Zalora has been around from quite some time but I only started exploring the world of online shopping in late 2017. Basically, Zalora is an online shopping platform for fashion. They carry everything from clothes to accessories for both males and females.
Hey guys! How was your holidays? I hope you guys had a great time. As for me, it was pretty exciting to be spending my first Christmas and New Year away from home. Which meant it was also our baby’s first trip and our baby’s first flight.
Like most first time parents, my husband and I were excited to bring our baby on this trip. However, we were also both concerned on how well the baby will handle it. Why wouldn’t we be when it is our baby’s first flight? God knows how horrified I’d be to be the clueless mother of the wailing baby on board a flight (not judging but noisy kids annoy people, right?).
Thankfully though, we consulted our pediatrician and she assured us that it’s okay and the baby can handle it. We just had to remember one thing: Make sure she’s sucking during take off and landing. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bottle, pacifier, or your nipples, she just has to suck. This is so the air pressure won’t build up on her ears and make it painful for her.
So Packed up!
Anyway, marriage and motherhood really changes you. I’d like to think that I’ve had my fair share of traveling but this is the first time that I’ve had to pack for people other than myself. I packed for 3 people and our bags weighed a total of 30+ kilos! When we didn’t have a kid yet, the 7 kilos carry-on per person was usually enough. If we ended up having less clothes than we needed, we would usually just buy them wherever we were.
Are you planning a party or a private event? Well, you’re in luck. I also just threw a party of sorts and I’ve decided to give all party-planning Antipoleños out there a bit of help by compiling some of the party/events venues in Antipolo City.
Party Season is here!
It’s the season of festivities and what better way to celebrate than to gather ’round with your friends and loved ones over good food in a great venue. I’ve got the food and venue part covered because today I’m letting you in on the many events places in my hometown.
Antipolo is a bustling town in Rizal. It is a mere 30 minutes away from the Metro and houses some quite popular resorts and pools in Mega Manila. It also has a variety of venues which are ideal for events. May it be for an intimate party or a grandiose celebration, the perfect party/events venues in Antipolo may be just what you are looking for.
Best Party/Events Venues in Antipolo
Below, I’ve listed, in no particular order, the party/events venues in Antipolo that I’ve come across while researching for a place to hold my baby’s dedication. Please keep in mind that the information here were retrieved in November 2017 and may be subject to change without prior notice.
Jardin de Miramar is just a stone’s throw away from where I live (around 10-15 minutes) and I always pass by its tall walls and big, green gate on my way to the city proper. However, I’ve never actually been to this place.
It can probably be considered a pipe dream for most of us common people and until now I can’t believe I — we — did it. It involved intense planning and a budget of almost US$15,000. Here’s how we did it.
It started in late 2014. I got my US multiple-entry visa end of June but was also scheduled to start Grad school in early August. My mom felt like spending just a month (July) with them would be such a waste so we decided that I’ll go the following year. And they were determined to give me the best time while I was there.
In the months that followed, my mom’s husband, Andy, drafted an itinerary. This originally included crossing over to Canada but I kept encountering problems with the Canada online visa application system and not getting it fixed despite reporting the problem several times.
We ended up scrapping the Canada part from the itinerary (Bye Banff! </3).
Anyway, below I uploaded the itinerary that Andy drafted for us, without the Canada part.
You can download our USA Cross Country Trip 2015 Itinerary to get an idea on how we went from east coast to west coast and back in 30-days. We didn’t necessarily follow it to a T but pretty much stuck to the states identified. For the attractions per state, we just winged it and googled things to do when we got to the hotel the night before. 🙂
Hey guys. As I mentioned in a previous post, I quit my job in January when I learned that I was pregnant. Not because I wanted to, but because I couldn’t function as well as I would like. Add to that the unhealthy level of commute to and from work (around two hours per way) and it’s an automatic NO from my husband.
I understand the risks and so I stopped working, but being a bum and just staying at home is taking a toll on my sanity so by the time the morning-sickness ended (around May), I started looking for remote work online but never really applied to anything full-time. I ended up doing some writing for a really low-paying website which pays per article just so I’d have something to do and think about. It was fun but it doesn’t really pay the bills.
